This great big ketubah (18X24 inches big!) was commissioned by Jillian and Gabriel. They wanted cherry tree branches together with the Jewish Seven Species (wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates). After reviewing several color options, they decided to go with a pearl grey text layer and a deep midnight blue background.
The design was made specifically to accommodate the couple's orthodox text, and it frames it beautifully. The couple chose pearl grey and midnight blue for their paper colors, transforming the ketubah into a still of a night-time quiet garden. There's so much to look at that I bet one will view it several times before they see all the flowers and fruits hidden there.
I actually completely miscalculated how long it will take me to cut - a whopping 23 and a half hours! Looking at the finished ketubah though, it was well worth my sore fingers:)
